When every second counts, lifeguards need to be prepared to respond as fast as possible. Lucid Reality Labs and the American Red Cross teamed up to create “Lifeguard VR”, an immersive simulation designed to modernize lifesaving skills training. Using hyper-realistic motion capture, trainees navigate virtual pools, waterfronts and waterparks while learning to spot and respond to drowning victims. The challenge? Identify and react within 30 seconds, just like in real life. See how the team took home a Davey Gold Award in 2024 for Emerging Tech – Virtual & Immersive Experiences: Virtual Reality.
Lifeguard VR trainees have 30 seconds to save a life. You’ve got limited time to enter. Submit your work by the Final Entry Deadline on July 25th.
