Kenny Friedman
Executive Creative Director
Leap Group
Kenny is a seasoned creative leader known for his ability to turn stories into compelling visual experiences and bringing brands to life. His passion for creativity drives him to consistently exceed client expectations by leading diverse teams in delivering innovative creative solutions that elevate brands. Kenny’s expertise spans a wide spectrum, including production, branding, web design, retail, and comprehensive 360-degree marketing strategies.
With more than 20+ years of experience, Kenny has held executive creative positions at prominent agencies such as Known, Upshot, and JWT. He has also worked client-side for major companies like Target and FLOR. Throughout his career, Kenny has partnered with notable clients, including Home Depot, P&G, Elkay, Target, Target Electronics, Walmart, Energizer, 3M, and Thermo-Tru Doors. His work delivers on his commitment to push creative boundaries and deliver results. In a world where creative ingenuity is essential to turning ideas into reality, Kenny is a true master of his craft.
At Leap Group, creative success is defined by a simple yet powerful ethos: making clients matter more to their audiences. As Kenny Friedman, a key figure in the agency, explains, this isn’t just about creating visually stunning work; it’s about crafting something that resonates, moves people, and compels them to take action. “We want to nail the brief and also make something beautiful in the process,” Kenny says, echoing the sentiment of advertising legend David Ogilvy: “It’s not creative unless it sells.”
Under Kenny’s leadership, Leap Group has evolved beyond merely meeting client expectations. Since joining the group in 2023, Kenny has pushed his team of artists, designers, writers, and directors to think proactively, to foresee client needs before they’re even expressed. “In the past, we solved our client’s problems, and we did that really well,” Kenny recalls. “But now, we’re pushing to think of client needs before they know they have them, ideating and delivering solutions that go beyond the ask.”

For Kenny, idea generation is the beating heart of the creative process, and it thrives on volume and collaboration. “It’s OK to come to the table with three ideas, because they might be gold,” he says. “But it’s infinitely better to come to the table with 100 ideas, because there will undoubtedly be gold in there.” This relentless pursuit of creativity is supported by a collaborative spirit where team members help elevate each other’s work, building off what they see and staying open to feedback.
Leap Group isn’t content with merely staying in the comfort zone of traditional advertising. The agency is actively exploring emerging technologies like augmented reality (AR) to create impactful brand experiences. “We’ve played in the AR space, and I hope to do more of that,” says Kenny. He sees potential in the ubiquity of AR-enabled devices like smartphones, which offer an accessible platform to engage audiences in innovative ways.

But the frontier that excites Kenny the most is artificial intelligence. He was an early adopter of AI, using tools like Midjourney and ChatGPT to push creative boundaries. His passion for AI is best exemplified by his personal project, Creatures of FPO, a surreal, AI-generated twist on Humans of New York. Kenny’s deep dive into AI has also led to requests for workshops and consulting, and although he no longer offers these services externally, he continues to champion AI within Leap Group.
Kenny views AI as more than just a tool for efficiency– he sees it as a catalyst for reclaiming creativity in a fast-paced industry. “Timelines have shrunk, and creative teams feel the fun has left the building,” he observes. “AI is the antidote for a blank page. It allows us to visualize ideas quickly and think differently.” For Kenny, AI helps overcome initial creative blocks and enables team members to experiment without the laborious setup of traditional methods like Photoshop or sketching.
One of the most profound shifts AI has introduced, according to Kenny, is breaking down the conventional silos between designers and writers. “Agencies and creative teams tend to think of designers as handling the art side and writers handling the copy, but with AI, a writer can create beautiful things and bring them to their design partner,” he explains. This collaborative dynamic, where roles blend, empowers everyone to contribute more holistically to the creative process. “It doesn’t matter who writes and who does the art,” Kenny insists. “It only matters that you create amazing stuff.”
As Leap Group continues to innovate, Kenny’s vision for the future is clear: a creatively liberated agency that uses every tool to elevate both the art and effectiveness of its work. By embracing new technologies and fostering a culture of collaboration, Leap Group is redefining what it means to be a creative agency in a digital age.
