CONGRATULATIONS 2024 WINNERS | VIEW THE WINNERS
Contemporary artist Karen Mosbacher dreams of one day showing her art in a New York City gallery. To get there, she commissioned Twelve Legs Marketing to produce a video where she describes her artistic perspective and explains her process. Twelve Legs created a ballet of interview footage and shots of Karen painting, with a classical score driving the narrative. What made this partnership with Karen Mosbacher special?
The uniqueness of Karen’s art is what sets her apart from all other artists. We clicked from the moment we met, and it’s been a great partnership. The great thing about working with artists is they are open to any stylistic approach you can think of which truly allows a videographer the opportunity to tap into their creativity and produce something that everyone can be proud of. Karen put all of her trust in Twelve Legs Marketing and we can’t thank her enough for doing that.
Describe your biggest obstacle or challenge for the film.
The biggest obstacle for the film was making sure we got images of every step of the exhibit’s process. A piece of art is done over time, it could happen all at once, in the middle of the night, or over the course of months. So, the planning process around making sure we have a little bit of every step of the creation certainly took up the most pre-production time.
Which aspects of the film are you most proud of?
Creating beautiful art can be a very time-consuming process. Karen worked on her exhibit for months and months before it was ready for public consumption. We’re proud of the way we were able to give the story some pace and keep the storyline from losing any pace. The change of music helps make this possible. The music in the piece was performed by Karen’s son and his duet partner so the video has even more special meaning.
How does this film represent your creative ethos?
When we started Twelve Legs Marketing in 2015, our goal was to bring high-end video production and digital marketing products to local businesses and a local artist fits right into that mission. The fact this piece has won several awards, including a regional Emmy, just makes the journey that much more joyful. It’s a piece that both Twelve Legs and Karen are proud of as I know she has used it on gallery submission forms as she continues to pursue her dream of being a featured artist in a gallery in New York City.
How does Twelve Legs Marketing define creative success?
We define creative success in a multitude of ways. The obvious being, is it a beautifully constructed piece that helps tell the client’s story. If so, that’s a great start. A lot of our work is also used in online advertising so the second goal for us is to make sure the piece is helping drive conversions. Whether those are new sales or visits to your website, a piece of creativity is only as successful as the goals it helps to achieve. Our clients don’t have the luxury of large budgets so each piece we create must help them achieve their business goals in a more efficient way than they would have been able to do by themselves.
What projects are you all currently working on and excited to work on in the future?
There are several projects Twelve Legs Marketing is excited about. As a matter of fact, we produced another piece with Karen in late 2023 and we’re excited for how that turned out. It’s a much more personal piece and it dives into Karen’s background and how she has overcome major roadblocks in her personal life and how she hasn’t allowed those hard time to stop her from creating beautiful art. We are working with a local campground as they revitalize the grounds and bring it back to its former glory. It will be a short documentary style piece that talks about the rich history of the area, how it fell into disarray and is now being beautified again.
How did you celebrate your win?
We celebrate all our award wins. Every award is special and another confirmation that we are producing great work that both us and our clients can be proud of.
