The 20th Annual Davey Awards

Opening Letter
AIVA Managing Director,
Lauren Angeloni

Dear Davey Awards Community,

I am beyond honored to kick off this 20th Season of the Davey Awards. It brings me great joy to look back on two decades of the massive ideas that have come from our “small” shops. Unsurprisingly, some of the most innovative and wildly creative work we receive in the AIVA comes through these awards. Our small agencies and indie creators have always acted as the avant garde, setting the tone for what the “Goliaths” will be attempting to recreate in the years to come.

The Davey Awards has built one of the more fiercely loyal and engaged communities of any creative awards. I am so privileged to witness its growth, with many new small shops entering the fold and joining the many loyal entrants who have participated for literal decades. After last season’s rebrand, I’m thrilled to see the artful new statues finding homes on the shelves of our winners, old and new.

In addition to a look back at the Daveys’ rich history, we have some other exciting updates in store for this season:

  • Expanded and streamlined “Emerging Tech” categories to reflect the ever-evolving nature of digital creativity. This will include projects in the realms of VR/AR, AI, Experiential and more.
  • An impressive cohort of new jurors who represent the diversity of the work submitted by our Entrants each year. This will include heavy-hitters from Digital Surgeons, NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Global Hotel Alliance, Fortune Media, Psychoactive Studios and Majestyk, among other impressive institutions.
  • More features showcasing past Davey Award winners and a series of interviews introducing our esteemed AIVA Panel Of Jurors.
  • Opportunities for IRL Meet-ups and Networking Events.

I can’t wait to see the exciting work that will be entered into this milestone season. I hope to connect with all of you this year, celebrate your work, hear your stories and hopefully get the chance to meet many of you in person. We will undoubtedly see many changes in the next two decades, but this fact will certainly remain true: SMALL SHOPS ROCK.

As ever,

Lauren Angeloni
